OECD Korea Policy Centre and Centre for Good Governance Conference on eGovernance for India: Opportunities, Challenges and Policy Alternatives (6 – 7 Nov 2013)
The OECD Korea Policy Centre in partnership with the Centre for Good Governance, Hyderabad held the international conference on ‘eGovernance for India: Opportunities, Challenges and Policy Alternatives’ at Hyderabad during November 6-7, 2013. The conference had speakers from OECD Head Quarters, Paris, Mexico and South Korea and participants from Government of India and the State Governments, industry and civil society. The conference aimed to create a platform for policymakers from India as well as from other OECD countries to dialogue and deliberate on efficient policy alternatives regarding egovernance.
The key note addresses were given by Mrs. Park Jihyun, Senior Counsellor, Economic Division, Embassy of the Republic of Korea to India and Dr. P.K.Mohanty IAS, Chief Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Sam Pitroda, Adviser to Prime Minister, Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations and Chairman, National Knowledge Commission and Mr.J.Satyanarayana IAS, Secretary, DeitY (D/o Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India) addressed the gathering through video conference.
This conference acted as a platform to facilitate conversation between experts and policy makers of both OECD and India and in the process, enable the Indian policy makers in overcoming the challenges that arise in the process of implementation of e-governance. The relevance of the conference comes from the critical stage of India’s eGovernance scenario where there is a rapid increase in the level of e-governance initiatives. It is expected that the learning gained by the Indian policy makers will enable them to consider alternatives strategies to strengthen the eGovernance scenario in the country.
