Centre for Good Governance (CGG), Hyderabad, in association with National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad organized an International Symposium on “Climate Change Impacts on Agriculture – Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies”, Tuesday 23, February 2016 at CGG, Gachibowli campus.
The symposium was organized in the backdrop that the farmer, exposed to many risks such as climate variability and change; frequent natural disasters; uncertainties in yields is vulnerable to reduced farm-viability and endangered livelihood.
The inaugural session was graced by Distinguished Guest Dr. David Bergvinson, Director General, ICRISAT and Chief Guest Shri C.Parthasarathi, IAS, APC & Secretary (Agriculture), Govt. of Telangana. Mr. Devi Prasad Juvvadi Director, (AMRG) CGG welcomed the guests.
The symposium saw participation of senior agriculture officials of 20 countries from Asia, Africa and South America. Scientists and heads of Research Institutes like ICRISAT,CRIDA, Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Indian Institute of Rice Research, Indian Institute of Millets Research, the Indian premier extension institute-MANAGE; state universities-Prof.Jaya Shankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), experts from Government-departments of Agriculture and Private sector organizations – YES Bank presented lectures.
