CGG celebrated Telangana Good Governance Day on June 10, 2023 – Session 1 on AP-Telangana State reorganization and Telangana Districts reorganization
CGG's symposium on Telangana Good Governance Day shed light on the commendable efforts made by the government to enhance public administration and improve governance. The event highlighted the significance of CGG's role in these initiatives and celebrated the positive impact on citizens' lives.
The first session of the symposium focused on CGG's pivotal role in the reorganization of AP-Telangana State and Telangana Districts. Mr. Janakiram, Program Manager of K&R Division, and Mr. Hemanth P, Senior Project Manager of eGovernance Division, presented the extensive involvement of CGG in the Review of State Reorganisation Act, providing technical support to State Reorganisation sub-committees, and the review and reorganization of government machinery. Directors Mr. Shabbeer Shaikh and Ms. Maadhavi Sriram shared their personal perspectives on implementing the two challenging reforms.
During this session, it was highlighted that one of the significant reforms initiated by the Telangana State government was the increase in the number of districts from 10 to 33. This step was taken to bring public administration closer to the people and facilitate smoother governance. The previous 10 districts were found to be too large in terms of population and area, making it difficult to effectively address the needs of the citizens. The redistribution of administrative departments and the creation of new administrative units were also discussed, emphasizing the positive impact of these changes.
Sri Rajendra Nimje, DG of CGG, shared his personal experience as the District Collector of Khammam & Asifabad almost 20 years ago. He recalled the challenges faced by the authorities in obtaining ground-level information from remote villages and the difficulties citizens encountered when traveling to the district headquarters. In his closing remarks, he praised the Government of Telangana for bringing administration closer to the people and highlighted the benefits citizens are now enjoying. This reform has set an excellent benchmark for 'Good Governance' that other states can strive to achieve.
